The Wise Man
The wise man never sleeps at night
and never sings during the day.
When the Sun rises
he blesses the church towers
and the people
who survived from their slumber.
So enigmatically
does he slip by his fellow beings
that he can rarely be witnessed.
Whenever people seek an answer
he utters a round
wisdom-laden word
like a river stone
and chiefly:
being able to observe a man’s inner world
is the noblest
happening.
